Sometimes I roll up my sleeves and help create a proposal. Sometimes I work on developing staff, processes, and organizations, usually with the focus on helping a company win more of what it pursues. I do things a little differently than most consultants, since I don't fill my calendar with billable hours. For example, I'm happy helping to plan a proposal at the start and go away until it's ready to review so I can provide quality assurance. This is far more economical than me billing the whole time. But it depends on your needs. I'm also happy helping you develop your company's internal capabilities and obsoleting myself over time.

Our first conversation is usually to discover whether we're a match for each other. If not, I always try to make a referral or give you options so you can get the help you need. I have some rather large agencies as partners, so it's usually not hard to find the right talent.

Here are some things I typically don't do: find leads for you to pursue, build customer relationships on your behalf, figure out what you should offer, pricing, grant writing, fundraising, and providing staff augmentation. I don't do startups, work for a percentage, or take contingent payments. While PropLIBRARY serves all kinds of businesses, most of my consulting engagements are with US Government contractors.  When it comes to training, speaking engagements, and process improvement efforts, I work with organizations of all types.

Location, location, location

I spend most of my time at the beach. Seriously. I mean if most of your business involved web-based publishing, wouldn't you? But I fly all over when needed. These days more and more companies prefer working remotely. You've got options and it's something else for us to talk about.
